my friend, after I told her that I still liked Alt-J, promptly replied “I used to like them, but I stopped because now everyone likes them.”
Is this a problem? I don’t get why if music starts to get appreciated by a wider branch of people it’s suddenly ‘uncool’ and ‘unoriginal’. Surely it’s good that they’re gaining popularity?
I wasn’t exactly an ‘original’ fan and seeing as my friend was about 6 when they first made their debut, I doubt she was either. So why is it ok that she starts liking them but totally wrong if anyone else joins the fandom a bit later?
I just don’t understand. I think I’ll carry on liking my music whether other people like them or not.
Woo U go girl. Who is ur friend?
